Skill training builds daughters' confidence as they step towards self-reliant lives
More than 15,000 women are training in 71 modern trades across Madhya Pradesh's 934 ITIs; scholarships, hostels and placement drives are helping daughters become self-reliant.

Bhopal. Daughters of Madhya Pradesh are now moving ahead with confidence. Schemes of the Skill Development and Employment Department are giving them skill training and better job opportunities. That is why a large number of women are now entering technical and industrial fields. Skill training is bringing positive change to women's lives and giving them the chance to become self-reliant.
The state has 934 ITIs (Industrial Training Institutes): 290 government and 644 private. These institutes give young people skill training matched to the needs of industry. In the 2025 session, government ITIs recorded 94.55 per cent admissions, the highest admission rate so far. To increase women's participation, 35 per cent of seats in government ITIs are reserved for women, and the results are clearly visible.
Daughters are now training in new fields
More than 15,000 women trainees are currently studying 71 modern trades in the state's ITIs. Large numbers of young women are training in trades such as Computer Operator and Programming Assistant (COPA), Hindi Stenographer and Electrician. This reflects a changing environment and the growing confidence of daughters, who are securing their futures by training in new fields.
Women's hostels in 56 government ITIs
To give women a safe and better environment, the state runs 7 government women's ITIs, and 56 government ITIs offer hostel facilities for women with more than 3,400 seats. This lets daughters from remote areas train as well. The department's focus is not limited to training; it is also working steadily to connect women with jobs. Special women's placement drives have found jobs for 777 women trainees. The Driving Training Institute in Indore has given free vehicle-driving training to 509 women, strengthening their sense of self-reliance.
Scholarship schemes are also helping
To strengthen women financially, various scholarship schemes are also being extended. More than 13,000 trainees from Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, backward classes, minorities, persons with disabilities and poor families receive scholarships, helping many daughters continue their training. The Mukhyamantri Seekho Kamao Yojana is also changing daughters' lives: thousands of young women have received on-the-job training in industries under the scheme, and 5,660 daughters are among the candidates who have completed training. Young women such as Ms Sneha Rajak of Sagar and Ms Liya of Raisen have found jobs after training and now support their families financially.
Skill programmes with international organisations
To prepare women for future needs, skill training programmes are also being run with international organisations. Under the Jeevan Tarang programme, about 3,000 daughters receive skill training every year, while with the support of UN Women, young women are being trained in STEM and soft skills. This is connecting them with advanced technology and new areas of work.
Many daughters are training in colleges too
Large numbers of daughters are also training in ITI skill colleges run through the Param Foundation. Programmes at the Sardarpur ITI in Dhar district have achieved 100 per cent placement, creating new job opportunities for young women. Under the Pradhan Mantri Vishwakarma Yojana, more than 64,000 daughters have benefited from skill training. The state's daughters are also shining nationally: Ms Trisha Tawde, a trainee at the Government Women's ITI in Betul, ranked first in the Central Zone in the National Council for Vocational Training examination and was honoured on behalf of Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Kaushal Convocation at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. Of the 10 participants from Madhya Pradesh among the All India Trade Toppers, five were young women.
