Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam is a milestone for women's empowerment: Nirmala Bhuria
Women and Child Development Minister Nirmala Bhuria led a large Nari Shakti conference and rally in Ujjain, marching alongside hundreds of women.

Bhopal. Women and Child Development Minister Nirmala Bhuria has described the 'Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam' (the women's reservation law) brought by Prime Minister Narendra Modi as an unprecedented, historic and positive step towards women's empowerment, calling it a milestone.
Ms Bhuria was addressing women as chief guest at the district-level Nari Shakti Vandan conference in Ujjain. Highlighting the success of the Nari Shakti Vandan awareness campaign running across the state under Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav, she called the event a symbol of the rise of women's power. Explaining the finer points of the Act, she said the law, which guarantees women's representation in Parliament, will not only strengthen women's leadership but also effectively increase their participation in legislative and parliamentary work. Making women aware of their constitutional rights, she said the role of women in shaping national policy is about to become even more decisive.
Presiding over the programme, Municipal Corporation Chairperson Mrs Kalawati Yadav praised the Prime Minister's commitment. Calling it an 'epoch-making' change, she said the government's sensitivity towards women is now visible on the ground. She urged the women present to run wide public awareness campaigns about the Act and the government's welfare schemes so that their benefits reach even the woman in the last row of society.
During the event, Minister Nirmala Bhuria and Chairperson Kalawati Yadav honoured meritorious girl students for their outstanding academic achievements. The conference ended with a grand women's awareness rally. Ms Bhuria and Mrs Yadav not only flagged off the rally but also walked the entire route with hundreds of women. Large numbers of public representatives, social workers and women participants from various fields took part.
