Conditioner Won't Fix Your Split Ends
It is widely believed that gels or conditioners can repair split ends, but according to a dermatologist the only real cure is to trim the ends.

The common belief is that split ends can be fixed with gels or conditioners, and some companies sell products that claim to do so. But this is completely wrong. The truth is that the only remedy for such hair is to cut the ends.
Dr Deepti Ghia, dermatologist and trichologist at Jaslok Hospital, Mumbai, explains that if you have split ends, no conditioner or product making such claims can repair them. A good conditioner can only protect hair from breaking. Some conditioners can hold the split ends together for a short time — a day or two — but cannot fix them completely; as soon as the effect wears off, the hair splits again. Similarly, some gelling agents temporarily join the ends of such hair.
Basically, hair grows from the root, and split ends are a sign that you are not caring for your hair properly. Using many kinds of chemicals, dyeing hair different colours, constantly switching conditioners and shampoos, and not oiling on time all cause split ends. To get rid of them, you will have to trim the ends.
