The state government is misleading farmers by blaming the Centre: Narottam Mishra

Bhopal. The farmers of the state are in distress. They cannot get even fertiliser, seed and urea for their fields. Driven to despair, farmers are taking their own lives — hundreds have already done so in the state, yet the government does not seem to care at all. The Kamal Nath government has failed on every front. To hide its failures the state government is blaming the Centre, but the people know the truth about the Congress. The Bharatiya Janata Party will raise the voice of the state's distressed farmers with full force and compel the government to act. This was said by Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly Shri Gopal Bhargava and former minister Dr Narottam Mishra at a press conference held at the party's state office.

We will raise farmers' voices from the Assembly to the streets

Bhargava said there is turmoil everywhere in the state, the public is suffering and law and order has completely collapsed. Farmers stand in queues for hours and still do not get urea; fertiliser is being distributed from police stations. He said the BJP has consistently given voice to the farmers' suffering and has worked to wake the sleeping government through agitations, sit-ins, demonstrations and protests.

He said the government is borrowing crores every month, yet development work has come to a complete halt. Questioning the Chief Minister, he asked whether public money is meant for foreign trips, decorating ministers' bungalows, the 'transfer industry' and buying an aircraft worth ₹60 crore. He said the government should fulfil the promises the Congress made in its manifesto for the welfare of farmers; otherwise the BJP will raise the farmers' voice from the streets to the Assembly.

Shri Bhargava said the opposition will corner the government on every front in the coming winter session. Referring to Congress protests at the homes of BJP MPs, he said the Congress had started a new practice and the BJP would now be forced to do the same. The government should tell people what it has done for farmers and answer how many of the promises in its 'vachan patra' have been fulfilled.
